What is wrong with my Wii Virtual Console download?

I recently attempted to download the game 'Paper Mario' over the Wii's virtual console service.
Unfortunately, the download seems to be abnormally slow, and after about 10 minutes or so, it fails, after Mario has only one block left to hit. I've tried doing this with both Nintendo USB connector and a router, although neither method has been successful.

Anyone got any idea what I should do?

Check to make sure you have extra free space in the sytem memory by moving unused channels to the SD card or deleting. If the esimate of how much space that you have left is wrong, you could be filling up just before it's done. (It also needs a little extra room to install itself once the download has completed).

Other than that, just keep trying. When I first got my Wii about 2 years ago, downloading software was flaky at times, but I've not had any problems with it recently.
