Yeah, if you want to play someone in particular you have to register your wii with him and he has to register his with you. Registering with each other can take as little time as a few minutes to several days before you get the confirmation so do it asap, that way your wii's will be already be connected when you're ready to play.

A review of some of the most popular Wii games for the Nintendo Wii
Super Smash Brothers Brawl
Â
Super Smash Brothers Brawl is one of the most popular Wii games for the Nintendo Wii. Drawing on all the characters of Nintendo’s vast library of titles, this game pits the characters in a fight against each other to the death. As the first version for this generation console, Super Smash Brothers Brawl features over thirty five total characters including: Fox McCloud from Star Fox, Pikachu from Pokemon, Link from the Legend of Zelda, and Mario from the Super Mario Brothers series. Each character has its own signature fighting style for the game. By simply tilting your controller you can attack your enemy with a variety of special moves that makes the game entertaining and simple. Over the course of a fight the player will have the opportunity to access various items that will enhance the strength of your player and give you a distinct advantage over your competitor. The graphics of the game are scintillating like eye candy and the desire to play will never decrease.
Â
Mario Kart Wii
Â
This is a classic among all Nintendo games and has been revived for the Nintendo Wii and has been loaded with plenty of brand new features. The basic idea for the game is that your character has a vehicle and races your competitor around a track that is sprinkled with obstacles and power ups. There are a variety of different modes you can compete in whether they be against computer simulated players or a mode where you can compete against your friends and family members. There are a total of thirty two different courses that can be unlocked as you win different races in the game. The best feature created for this go-kart driving experience is the Wii Wheel. A simple accessory that replaces the controller, you will actually feel like you are in the middle of the game driving a go-kart. You can find hidden items throughout each course that can be used either to boost your speed or give you invincibility or can be used to decimate your opponent by shooting them with items that will stop them in their tracks.
Â
Punch-Out
Â
Another classic brought back for the Nintendo Wii, Punch-Out puts you in the sneakers of Little Mac. He is a small yet wiry underdog, attempting to make his way to the top of the boxing circuit. You will face thirteen boxers in the game and most of them appeared on the Nintendo Entertainment System original. If you’ve ever played the original, you will feel a sense of nostalgia seeing as a game like this does not need larger than life graphics in order to be enjoyable. Past opponents include: King Hippo, Soda Popinski, Bald Bull and Great Tiger to name a few.
Â
All three of these games are wonderful Wii games for your Nintendo Wii and are available in most department stores. They are also three of the most affordable games offered for the system. Additionally, they can be found on numerous online retailers that offer such games for discounted rates when purchased together.
