In your opinion, what game is better for me: Rock Band or Guitar Hero World Tour?
I thinking about buying one of the games for myself and my sister to play, but I'm unsure which to choose. Please help me decide.
What I am looking for:
- Compatability with the Wii.
- Variety in songs.
- Customization, like in characters.
- The ability to make music (I read that Guitar Hero has like a "studio"-type thing)
- Good user interface for someone who really doesn't play too much Rock Band/Guitar Hero
- Multi-player Functions
- A microphone, guitar, bass, and drum kit.
I also already own one guitar hero guitar.
I was thinking that if I get Rock Band that I would like to get The Beatles edition, would I be able to buy the other versions of Rock Band and play them with my The Beatles System?
When it comes down to it, you've got 4 choices: Guitar Hero World Tour, Guitar Hero 5, Rock Band 2 and The Beatles:Rock Band.
The two Guitar Hero games are the only ones with music creation, but it's pretty limited as to what you can do, and can take a long time to get something that sounds decent.
All the games (except for The Beatles) allow character customisation, but I find I get better results and more variety out of Rock Band 2.
Rock Band 2 has the most songs -- there's about the same number on disk as all the other games, but there's almost 700 songs and counting available as downloadable content versus about 150 or so for Guitar Hero World Tour.
When it comes to the instruments, they're a little cross-compatible. All the Rock Band Instruments will work with all the Rock Band games (RB, RB2, TB:RB), but won't work with any Guitar Hero games. The Guitar Hero instruments will work with Guitar Hero and RB2 and TB:RB, but not RB. If you get one of the Full Band bundles they all include the mic, a guitar and a drum set; adding the guitar you've already got gives you a full guitar/bass/drum/vocal setup. The only exception would be needing a couple more mics for The Beatles to do the three-part harmonies.
If you want The Beatles, your best bet is probably to pick up the Rock Band 2 bundle right now as they seem to be on sale at most places (around $100); you can then pick up just The Beatles game when it comes out on the 9th and use all the same instruments.
